Internal Width/Height/Length

This refers to the internal usable space inside the box, measured from the bottom of the box. Use these options if you're looking to store something specific. For example, maybe you have a Christmas tree that breaks up into 1m sections, or a wind break for the beach that's 1.5m

External Width/Height/Length

This refers to the actual size of the box itself, measured from the top of the box and includes any lips/handles. Most plastic boxes taper out slightly and include handles and perhaps wheels. You'll need this measurement if you want a box to fit into a particular cupboard or on a shelf.
