Storage king kits out the kit man

A new shirt sponsorship deal brought a welcome bonus for Naz Ali, the exasperated Kit Man at iconic football club Accrington Stanley.

As the new season started the League Two side announced its new shirt sponsor as PlasticBoxShop, the UK’s leading online retailer of plastic box storage solutions for the home, office or industry.

Recently its brand ambassador Jesse McClure, star of hit US reality TV show ‘Storage Hunters’, visited Stanley’s Wham Stadium in answer to a plea for help from the club’s long-serving Kit Man.

“Any Kit Man will tell you that clearing up after the players is a nightmare,” said 27-year-old Naz, who has been with the club for 10 years.

“They leave their dirty kit wherever it drops and you need to be really organised to make sure it’s all collected up and cleaned and that there’s new fresh kit ready for when it’s needed.”

After calling at the club to experience the challenges facing Naz, Jesse McClure took him to PlasticBoxShop’s showroom to choose a selection of products to help him get organised. They included boxes and bins for dirty kit and boots, wheeled boxes for drinks on match day, organiser boxes for studs and extra large boxes for storing footballs.

“Back room guys like Naz do an awesome job for clubs like Accrington Stanley,” said Jesse. “But they don’t always get the recognition they deserve, or even the best equipment to do their job.

“It’s great that PlasticBoxShop can ‘kit out the Kit Man’ as part of our support for the club. We already sell to a lot of sports clubs and we even supplied plastic boxes for athletes to put their kit in at the London 2012 Olympics.”
